Cider Mill Barns

Set in the rolling Warwickshire countryside, Cider Mill Barns is an exclusive use wedding and function venue.

Hayward Smart were appointed to undertake the design of a barn conversion and extension along with a replacement barn structure to provide a wedding and function facility with commercial kitchen, bar, storage and outdoor areas as well as Bed and Breakfast accommodation. The client already ran a successful catering business and cookery school from the site and saw an opportunity to use existing structures to expand their operation.

The primary barn was a modern portal framed structure where the metal structure was retained with new timber cladding and brick plinth added externally. The concrete fibre roof material is replaced with natural slates. The use of exposed timber framed structure to create a focal point of the entrance along with the choice of materials results in the building having an attractive rural vernacular.

The Bed and Breakfast accommodation is provided within a new structure that replaced an existing barn. The design of the new building follows the pitched roof, gabled forms of the surrounding structures with large, glazed openings and walls with facing brick and timber cladding.
